Roy C. Mateer Jr., 73, of Milroy, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Dec. 6, 1946, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Roy C. Mater Sr. and Nellie H. (Hess) Galbreath.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; five sisters, and two brothers.
He is survived by; wife, Kathryn “Kay” (Fultz) Mateer, of Milroy, whom he married on Sept. 11, 1965 and has shared 55 years of marriage and had been together for 57 years; children, Lori K. Mater, of Milroy, Amy J. Seachrist and husband, Shawn, of Milroy, and Roy C. (Mack) Mater, of New Lancaster Valley; three grandchildren, Derek S. Mateer and wife, Shana, Taylor K. Seachrist, Dakota J. Mateer; one great-granddaughter, Rosaleigh M. Mateer; two sisters, his twin, Rose C. ‘Sue’ Lambert and husband, Jack, of Bellefonte, and Patricia Aitkins, of McClure.
He attended Kishacoquillas High School.
Earlier in life, he was a member of Milroy CMA Church. He was a member of the Blue Rock sportsman’s club.
Roy worked for New Holland for 30 years. He spent his years in retirement in the winter outside on his blue tractor making sure his neighbors were plowed out.
Family was most important. He enjoyed ‘tinkering’ in his garage, and he will be missed by his 4-legged friend, Charlie.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
